The ASU men’s golf team could not make it four tournament wins in a row but did manage another top-10 finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters in Las Vegas.

The team finished tied for third place with Oklahoma State at 9-under 855 as a team over the three rounds. The Texas Longhorns won the event with a 26-under 838. This is the first time the team has finished worse than second place since finishing sixth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in September.

Junior Jon Rahm continued to impress as he finished tied for second overall with Texas’ Beau Hossler with a 9-under 207, six strokes behind Alabama’s Robby Shelton for the lead.

Rahm’s 4-under par second round was the best for anyone on team. He eagled twice, once in first and final rounds both on the 18th hole. Freshman Tobias Eden also scored an eagle during the tournament but his came in the second round on the ninth hole.

Junior Max Rottluff secured a top-20 finish with his 2-under 214. Rottluff shot s 2-over on the second day of the tournament with four bogeys and a double bogey but followed it up with three birdies against just one bogey in the third and final round on Wednesday. His final round helped him jump up nine spots on the leaderboard on the final day.

Rahm and Rottluff were the only members of the team to shoot for under par this week.

Junior Alberto Sanchez, who earned the Pat Tillman golf bag this week, shot a 4-over 220 over three rounds with his best round coming on Wednesday with a 1-under 71 with five birdies.

Freshman Tobias Eden shot 6-over 222. Despite scoring an eagle in the round, Eden’s worst round was his second where he shot a 6-over 78 with eight bogeys.

Sophomore Nicolo Galletti rounded out the team with an 8-under 224 despite a 2-under final round on Wednesday. Galletti opened up the tournament with a rough first round, shooting a 9-over 81 with two bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey. He moved up nine spots on the final day of the event.

Next on the schedule for the Sun Devils is the Oregon Duck Invitational on March 23-24. The event will take place at the Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Oregon.
