Tempe Police reported the following incident Thursday:

A Chandler man was arrested on March 18 at East University Drive and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of possession of a weapon in a drug offense, possession of dangerous drugs and reckless display of a firearm, according to a police report.

The man was driving around with his left arm out of the window while holding a .380 HP silver and black handgun at a red light on Mill Avenue and University Drive, police reported.

The man waved his gun out the window at two men standing 50 feet away and told two victims to drop a lighter one of them had picked up, police reported.

The men said they were afraid they would get shot and left the scene where the man followed them around in his car, according to the report.

While conducting the stop with the man, the officer asked him if he had any firearms or illegal substances, which the man replied no and he was searched at the scene with no weapon on his person, police reported.

After the man was identified by the witnesses, he later admitted he did have the silver and black gun in his car, police reported.

While being transported to the Tempe City Jail, the officers asked the man if he had any drugs on his person; he replied no, but after being searched at the jail, officers found a usable quantity of methamphetamine inside his pant pocket, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
