A 25-year-old Mesa man was arrested May 14 on the 6000 block of South Rural Road on suspicion of shoplifting, removal of goods and dangerous drug possession, according to a police report.

Officers arrested the man for shoplifting after an investigation revealed he took a USB wall charger and cable valued at $10, police reported.

The merchandise was not recovered, according to the report.

During a search in the arrest, a chunk of white crystalline substance was found wrapped in plastic in the pocket of his gym shorts which he was wearing under his jeans, police reported.

Officers identified the substance as methamphetamine, according to the report.

The man said he did not understand his Miranda rights, police reported.

An 34-year-old Glendale man was arrested May 12 on the 400 block of West Broadway Road on suspicion of failure to appear in court, marijuana possession, and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

The man was pulled over and arrested for a confirmed arrest warrant for DUI, police reported.

Upon contacting him the officer smelled the odor of unburnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to the report.

The man told the officer that he had marijuana in the glove box, but didn’t have a medical marijuana card, police reported.

Searching the vehicle, the officer found the marijuana inside a clear ziplock bag with the words “white rhino” printed on the side, according to the report.

In an interview the man admitted he brought the marijuana for $40 and smokes the substance once or twice a week, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked to see a judge, according to the report.
