ASU baseball junior center fielder Johnny Sewald was selected by the Houston Astros in the 14th round of the 2015 MLB Draft Wednesday.

Sewald, who was one of the most exciting players in the conference and the leadoff hitter for the Sun Devils in every game this season, was a two-time All-Pac-12 honoree and two-time member of the Pac-12 All-Defensive team.

He was a 2015 All-Pac-12 First Team honoree, batting .324 with a .436 on-base percentage, hitting eight doubles, one home run and driving in 23 runs while scoring 46 and stealing 21 bases

He also was excellent on defense in 2015, not committing a single error en route to his second consecutive All-Pac-12 Defensive team honors.

Sewald was previously selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 34th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Bishop Gorman High School (Las Vegas).

Sewald has until July 17 to sign his professional contract. If he does not sign, he may return to ASU for his senior season.
