Chandler native and Hamilton graduate Zane Strand verbally committed to play baseball at ASU in a tweet Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-3-inch, 205 pound right-handed pitcher guided the Hamilton Huskies to an AIA Division I state championship in 2014. Strand also threw a no-hitter in 2015 and is the first local commit of the 2016 class.

Strand is the sixth member of the 2016 class, which includes outfielders Myles Denson and Tre Turner, pitchers Jordan Roberts and Sean Keating, and first baseman Cody Sturgeon.
