Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested Aug. 26 on the 400 block of Easy Dunbar Drive on suspicion of unlawful means of transportation, according to a police report.

The man was staying with his sister and mother while he was trying to get clean from drugs, according to the report.

While his sister was in the shower, the man took the car keys from the kitchen table and stole the vehicle, according to the report.

The man's sister said that he never received permission to drive the car and that she believed he recently began using drugs again, police reported.

His sister contacted him and the man told her he was bringing the car back immediately, police reported.

The man, however, didn’t return with the car until much later, according to police. By that time, the car had been entered into the NCIC/ACIC database as stolen, police reported.

The man gave the keys back upon return and was contacted by police, according to the report.

The man admitted to taking the car to see his girlfriend, saying he didn’t have permission and he had taken the car in the past without permission, police reported.

He also said he used $9 to fill up the tank after taking the car, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, police reported.
