Tempe Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

A 44-year-old Laveen man was arrested Aug. 28 on the 1100 block of South San Jose on suspicion of aggravated assault of a police officer, aggravated driving under the influence and failing to stop for a police officer, according to a police report.

Officers noticed that a man appeared to be intoxicated driving through Tempe, police reported. After searching for the man, police found him as he was driving 25 mph; the man then refused to pull over for the officers, according to the report.

When the man finally pulled over, officers noticed an open beer can and that the man had failed to zip or button his pants, police reported.

After repeatedly asking officers why he was pulled over, the man became agitated and attempted to hit a police officer in the head, according to the report.

The officer was able to duck because the man was swinging his fists slowly, police reported.

Police then handcuffed the man, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, according to the report.
