Tempe Police: Man dragged under light rail in Tempe, alcohol may have been a factor

A 29-year-old man was dragged under the light rail in Tempe Sunday morning, according to Tempe Police.

At about 1:05 a.m. officers and Tempe Fire Medical Rescue responded to a light rail-pedestrian accident near First and Ash Avenue, Tempe Police Sgt. Michael Pooley wrote in an an email.

The man was lying between the tracks at First and Ash Avenue and was drug for a short distance under the train as it came to stop over him, Pooley wrote.

"He only suffered minor injuries and was transported to (HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center) for observation," Pooley wrote. "It appears as though alcohol was a factor in the pedestrian's actions."
