Tempe Police: Man throws sock in Best Buy trashcan, later found with meth

The Tempe Police station, which is located on Fifth Avenue near College Avenue. 


Tempe Police reported the following incidents on Wednesday: 

An Arizona man was arrested on Oct. 7 in the 1900 block of Rio Salado Parkway on suspicion of dangerous drug possession, according to a police report.  

Officers were called to the scene after employees at a Best Buy saw a suspicious man in the store, police reported. The man was seen removing a sock from his pocket and throwing it in the trash, and store cameras confirmed his actions, according to the report. 

When officers searched the man, they found meth, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report. 


An Arizona man was arrested on Oct. 9 in the 1900 block of East Libra Drive on suspicion of burglary, unlawful entry and drug possession, according to a police report.  

Officers were searching a neighborhood after they received calls about two car burglaries, police reported. The suspect was bragging about stealing a $400 surfboard, $15, a wallet, a set of keys and other items to his roommate’s brother, according to the report. 

The brother called the officers to the scene, while the man was moving his belongings out of his home, according to the report. The officers searched the man and found drugs, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
