Tempe Police: Apache and Rural given 'all clear' after suspected drive-by shooting

Tempe Police is still investigating the scene of a possible drive-by shooting where officers said a transient in the area reported an unknown circular wound to his side. No change in public behavior is advised, according to Tempe Police.

Students originally received an email and text alert at around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with the following message:

"At 3:45 pm ASU PD was advised of a drive-by shooting Rural and Apache at the northwest corner. Avoid area if possible."

This alert was sent out to students during the highly anticipated rivalry game against UofA, where Tempe was experiencing a lot of traffic from football fans.

About an hour later, ASU PD sent out a follow-up to their original alert stating that the northwest corner of Rural and Apache was "all clear", according to the alert.

The scene units are still investigating the situation, according to Tempe Police.
