ASU cross country women finish eighth, men 15th at NCAA West Regional

Samantha Ortega, Ryan Herson led the way for the Sun Devils in Seattle

The ASU cross country women finished in eighth place and the men were15th overall in the in the NCAA West Regional meet on Friday in Seattle. 

On the women’s side, freshman Samantha Ortega led the way for the Sun Devils, finishing the 6-kilometer race in 22nd place with a time of 21:10.6.

Adriana Olivas was close behind Ortega, crossing the finish line in 31st with her time of 21:20.6.

Chelsey Totten placed 48th overall, clocking in at 21:33.8. Jenna Maack completed the race with a time of 21:42.9 in 58th.

Shaina Corbin finished 85th overall, securing a time of 22:14.9.

Cristina Juan Torres was the 132nd runner across the finish line, notching a time of 22:37.7.

Jen Owen was the final Sun Devil to complete the race, coming in at 156th overall with her time of 22:58.0.

In the men’s race, redshirt senior Ryan Herson was the first Sun Devil to cross the finish line at 32:19.7, securing 60th place.

CJ Albertson was the next Sun Devil to complete the 10-kilometer race, clocking in at 32:28.0 in 77th place overall. Ryan Norton was not too far behind Albertson, securing 82nd place with his time of 32:45.5.

Bernie Montoya notched a time of 33:07.8 with his 102nd place overall finish in Washington. Cody Brazeal was right behind him, clocking in at 33:12.7 in 106th place.

Ryan Normand secured 134th place with a 33:58.4 finish. Jeff Bickert was the last of the Sun Devils to complete the race at the NCAA’s West Regions. Bickert was 170th place overall with a time of 34:53.1.
