Kevin Boyd resigned as the head coach of ASU women's soccer Monday night, as was first reported by Jeff Metcalfe of azcentral.com. Boyd coached at ASU for 10 seasons and made four NCAA tournament appearances.

The Sun Devils capped off their final game with Boyd at the helm on Friday and finished the 2016 season with a record of 6-11-2 (1-9-1 Pac-12).

ASU was riddled with injury this season after losing three offensive standouts at various points: junior midfielder Aly Moon, redshirt senior midfielder Lucy Lara and the Sun Devils' leading goal scorer in junior forward Jazmarie Mader. The team finished the season losing seven consecutive games.

Ray Anderson, ASU vice president for athletics, released a statement that said Boyd gave "10 years of commendable service" to ASU.

"I want to personally thank Kevin for his investment in graduating student-athletes and the achievements of the program during his tenure," Anderson's statement read. "We have high expectations for success at Arizona State, and we intend for our women's soccer program to compete annually in the postseason, and eventually contend for both conference and national titles, all while creating an environment conducive to the academic success of our student-athletes.

"Arizona State will conduct a national search for a new head coach of our women's soccer program that best fits our department, University, and community."

In 10 seasons with ASU, Boyd's overall record was 90-85-23. His overall career coaching record is 214-148-43.
