Sun Devils round up football practice Friday morning

The Sun Devils are in full practice mode with less than two weeks until the season begins

The ASU football team practiced at the Kajikawa practice fields in Tempe Friday morning, in temperature nearing triple digits. 

The Sun Devils put more focus on punting drills during practice, with the first team defense practicing as the punt coverage group, and redshirt sophomore John Humphrey was catching punts.

Here’s what the squads looked like:

First-Team Offense:

Quarterback: Manny Wilkins

Running Back: Kalen BallageDemario Richard

Wide Receivers: N’Keal Harry, John Humphrey, Jalen Harvey (Frank Darby was with both the first and second team)

Tight End: Jay Jay Wilson

Offensive Line: Cohl Cabral (LT), Sam Jones (LG), AJ McCollum (C), Steve Miller (RT), Quinn Bailey (RT)

Defense:

Defensive Line: Alani Latu, JoJo Wicker, Tashon Smallwood

Linebackers: J’Marcus Rhodes, Christian Sam, DJ Calhoun, Koron Crump

Cornerbacks: Joey Bryant, Kobe Williams

Safeties: Dasmond Tautalatasi, Chad Adams

Second-Team Offense:

Quarterback: Blake Barnett, Brady White

Running backs: Eno Benjamin, Trelon Smith

Wide Receivers: Kyle Williams, Terrell Chatman, Frank Darby, Curtis Hodges

Tight End: Tommy Hudson, Josh Pokraka, Alexander Otero

Offensive Line: Tyson Rising (LT), Connor Humphreys, Tyler McClure (C), Alex Losoya (RG), Mason Walter (RT)

Defense:

Defensive Line: Dougladson Subtyl, Shannon Forman, Renell Wren

Linebackers: Abraham Thompson, Khaylan Thomas, Deion Guignard, Tyler Whiley

Defensive backs: Chase Lucas, Mo Chandler, Langston Frederick, Ty Thomas

Notes:

After stretching, ASU started tackling drills with the player’s respective position groups. Once those drills were over, they switched over to ball protection drills.

In the short tempo drills, Wilkins and Barnett both completed short passes, with Darby making a few receptions.

Toward the end of the media availability, White threw a pass intended to Hodges, but it was tipped and intercepted.
