ASU junior midfielder Jemma Purfield (11) celebrates with her teammates after scoring a goal in a game against Oregon State on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

After two overtime periods ASU women's soccer (4-9-3, 1-5-2 Pac-12) and the University of Utah (5-8-3, 0-6-2 Pac-12) were unable to break a 2-2 tie.

The Sun Devil's played their sixth overtime game of the season and their second of Pac-12 play.

Neither the Sun Devils nor the Utes were able to end their conference winless streaks.

ASU junior defender/forward Jemma Purfield led the way for the Sun Devils with two goals from the penalty mark while Utah junior midfielder Paola Van der Veen scored twice in the 38th and 49th minute of play.

The Sunday afternoon game was physical, with three penalty calls and a number of fouls. The match ended with a total of 38 fouls – ASU committed 23 of those fouls, while the Utes committed 15.

The Utes have yet to find their first win of the 2017 Pac-12 conference and have not had a positive result since their opening tie against the defending national champions, USC.

Both teams had their moments offensively, but the Utes out shot the Sun Devils 20-14, with 11 being on frame.

Both ASU freshman keeper Nikki Panas and Utah redshirt junior keeper July Mathias were kept busy with plentiful shots on goal.

Panas matched her carer high of nine saves and Mathias finished with five saves of her own.

Throughout the 110 minutes of play, ASU and Utah were evenly matched. The Sun Devils once again struggled to find any quality in the final third – they have not scored a goal in the run of play since Oct. 8 against USC.

ASU did start the match dominating possession as they did against Colorado, but this time found themselves first on the scoreboard when junior forward Natalie Stephens won the penalty for the Sun Devils – Purfield went on to score ASU's first goal off the penalty kick.

However, the Utes did equalize when Van der Veen found herself on the end of a long ball played into the ASU box, which she sent to the back of the net with only one touch.

A penalty call in favor of the Utes ended with Van der Veen scoring her second goal, which gave Utah a brief lead.

Finally, on the third penalty call of the match, Purfield scored from 12 yards out.

ASU women's soccer will return home for a two game home stand against Washington State on Oct. 26 and Washington on Oct. 29.
