ASU redshirt junior 174lb. wrestler Zahid Valencia wrestles his opponent in the Sun Devils' 20-15 loss to the University North Carolina at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Arizona, on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.

After a loss to No. 24 Lock Haven on Friday, ASU wrestling fell to No. 21 Lehigh on Saturday, 23-13.

Led by redshirt juniors Josh Maruca, Josh Shields and Zahid Valencia, the Sun Devils were in a back-and-forth affair for most of the night. All three ranked wrestlers earned victories Saturday, each one capping off a 2-0 weekend.

The dual began with the 125-pound weight class, and redshirt freshman Brandon Courtney got ASU on the board first with a 3-2 victory over Lehigh sophomore Luke Resnick.

Lehigh then took three out of the next four matches prior to Shields' win. Following Valencia's major decision victory at 174 pounds, the Sun Devils led 13-9 with three bouts to go.

Even after a loss in the 184-pound bout, the Sun Devils found itself tied with Lehigh at13-13, going into the last two.

However, Lehigh closed out the dual with three consecutive victories to earn the win, knocking the Sun Devils to 4-8 on the season.

ASU will visit Pac-12 rival Stanford Saturday Feb. 2 in its final road dual of the season. The match will begin at 2:00 PM MST.
