If it feels different to be an ASU men’s basketball fan, that’s because it is.
For the first time in school history, the No. 14 Sun Devils (16-3, 5-2 Pac-10) are the highest-ranked team in the Pac-10 Conference.
They sit three spots ahead of No. 17 UCLA (15-4, 5-2) in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll, released Monday.
The Bruins were ranked as high as No. 9 just two weeks ago, but have lost two of three since then. They lost to ASU 61-58 on Jan. 17 at Pauley Pavilion and fell 86-75 at No. 23 Washington on Saturday.
UW (15-4, 6-1) makes its first appearance in the top 25 since Jan. 1, 2007, and has sole possession of first place in the Pac-10.
The Huskies will play in Tucson on Thursday before coming to Wells Fargo Arena for a 3:30 tip-off on Saturday.
