The "Borderlands" series has always had one unifying mantra: shoot and loot. Shoot bandits, robots and monsters and procure loot from either aforementioned baddies or by other means. The game offers the option to play as four different “heroes,” a.k.a. Vault Hunters, each with their own abilities and skills to upgrade as you play along. This was the series that created the first-person-shooter/role-playing-game genre.

The 5th Annual Arizona Taco Festival was nestled on the Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, a short walk from the quiet training grounds of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. My getup — a gray ASU shirt, green button up and slightly skinny jeans, did zero to combat the 90 degree weather. Others were styled a little more smartly than I; similar to styles seen at Coachella but not as wild as those could get.

Long known for its quick 2-D action and busy environments, the "Strider" series has a long and interesting history in gaming, originating in arcades in 1989. The hero, Hiryu, almost always had one goal in those games: to destroy the evil Grand Master and foil his plots for world domination, all while hacking robots, soldiers and robot gorillas to shreds.

"The Judge," starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Robert Duvall is, well, a thing. It exists. It's in theaters right now for your viewing pleasure.

All stages, all items, all the time. An old friend of mine had the game system — if there was a Smash, we were there.

Watching an orchestra perform is tantamount to seeing a living breathing entity, one made up of wood, strings, metals and rubber.

The sequel to the martial arts epic has finally been announced 14 years after the original. But some aren't happy about how it's coming out.

If you're either fashion-forward or working toward being fashion-forward, you've likely run into one of two scenarios. One is that your local shopping centers have the most meager of offerings, and half the stuff there looks like knockoffs of a more high-quality brand. The other is that said meager offerings can cut deeply into a budget.

So, you've got it. That thing. The demo of all demos so far this year, unless you count the "Destiny" beta. The Super Smash Bros. for 3DS demo is out in the open for all to enjoy, no longer beholden to Platinum Club Nintendo members. It's a surprising yet smart move by Nintendo to release one of these at all; it's not exactly known for demonstrations outside a store kiosk.

Before his departure from China to Hollywood, John Woo made a film about a cop. A cop that didn't play by rules, drank an odd tequila and club soda mix and played the clarinet at a Jazz bar on his days off.

In a certain fashion, the dimly lit, underground ASU Art Museum frames the dark tones of some new pieces on display. "Shifting Sands: Recent Videos from the Middle East" is exactly what its namesake proclaims. Six videos from from four filmmakers show the region's citizens in ways that are harrowing and definitely thought-provoking.

Peter Capaldi’s role as the 12th Doctor, four episodes into the new season, has been an interesting ride to say the least. Gone is the inherent silliness of 10 and 11, and in place are their sharper edges — much like a younger version of the War Doctor.

I’m sure we’ve all wondered what we could do with the power to change the past. Fix a mistake with an ex, skip that overtime shift to see a show or even say sorry when you should have. There’s a ton of reasons to alter what went on back then, but the consequences could be a bit grim.

The grace of the violin met the power of the piano this past Sunday.

Back during last year's holiday season, I picked up a Windows Phone for two reasons. It was cheap (as in free), and it wasn't an iPhone. Of course, this is to say nothing of the iPhone, or the millions of people who use it. But as someone who's always striving for individuality (hipster alert), I just wanted to try something different.

From funk machines to odd statues, artillery shells to a classic Beatles record, there is a lot to see down at ASU’s Brickyard Art Museum.

I have been a gamer since I was a kid — 4 years old, I think. Back then, playing video games indoors was on the day-to-day; if it wasn’t my Game Boy, it was my Super Nintendo or the Sega Genesis at my friend’s house. That isn’t to say I didn't play outside; I loved playing outside. But there were times where the great outdoors could not match the immersion of shooting "Donkey Kong" through the jungle via canonized barrels.

When "Diablo III" first hit the last generation of consoles, it did so with style and ease for the player. It smartly lacked the always online necessity of its PC forefather and let four buddies get together in one room to take on Hell's minions.
