It's tennis time again as both the ASU men's and women's squads head out to different parts of California today to compete.

The woman's squad, led by head coach Sheila McInerney, will travel to San Diego to play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships, hosted by San Diego State. Schools competing include UC Irvine, Arizona, San Diego State, Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara.

In the singles qualifying draw, ASU will be represented by Paulie Faban. Faban will also team up with sophomore Joslyn Burkett for the doubles qualifying draw. In the singles main draw, ninth ranked senior Adria Engel will defend her national ranking and is seeded third. Nationally ranked senior Mhair Brown (53), will compete as the seventh seed.

Sophomore Joslyn Burkett, Senior Megan Yeats and Junior Cindy Sureephong will play in the singles main draw. In the doubles main draw Burkett and junior Adria Engel team up and Brown will join Sureephong.

The men, coached by Lou Belkan, will partake in the ITA Regional in Malibu hosted by Pepperdine. There will be 64 players in the singles matches and 32 teams for the doubles competition. Schools competing at Pepperdine will include UA, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego State and USC among others.

Participating for the men will be Ryan McBride, senior Pim Van Mele, and Ryan Eveloff in the singles main draw. Mele and sophomore Clinton Lechter will take to the court in the doubles main draw.

The matches begin Thursday and last until Monday for the women's championships. The men's regional competition will last through Sunday.
