Creationism's myth
This letter is in regard to the lecture given by Mr. Mike Vallie titled "Evolution: Fact or Faith?" on the ASU campus Tuesday, April 15. Contrary to what Mr. Vallie lectured, there are NO reports of "sub-fossil" (non-fossilized) dinosaurs to substantiate the claim that cross-cultural "dragon myths" provide evidence of human and dinosaur coexistence.
Dinosaur and human remains don't co-occur in the same geological strata. There is no evidence that humans and dinosaurs ever coexisted as creation scientists claim. As dinosaurs had a worldwide distribution, it would be expected that if humans and dinosaurs did coexist, we should find dinosaur and human remains together in bone assemblages throughout the world. Either Mr. Vallie is misinformed or misrepresenting the data.

Code hurts education
In honor of April 15 passing, let us consider the "Aid to Education Fund" (AZ Form 140, Line 43). Enacted in 1998, it is one of several "voluntary gifts" an Arizona taxpayer can make by redirecting all or part of the expected refund. However, all the other funds accept donations in any amount. But Aid to Education accepts ONLY the ENTIRE refund.
As a result, few donate to this fund and revenues are dismal by comparison. Averaged over the last four years, taxpayers gave Clean Elections $1.8 million per year, Arizona Wildlife $695,000, Special Olympics $83,000 and Aid to Education just $29,000. In a state where people say education is a "top priority," Form 140 says something else.

Anti-war, anti-American
Walking through campus everyday, I'm constantly reading signs and chalk on the ground protesting the war in Iraq. Before I rip these opinions, I want to make it clear that I support everyone's right to have an opinion, and the fact that they are guaranteed that right. What strikes me about these particular opinions is the blatant lack of respect they have.
I've put up with this "I don't support the war, but I support the troops" crap for long enough. Protesters should be willing to knock on doors and tell people that they support the killing of their loved ones, human torture and that they have absolutely no respect for people who risk their lives for this country.
