New Provost announced for ASU

I am writing to share the good news that Elizabeth "Betty" Capaldi, vice chancellor and chief of staff at the State University of New York, Albany, has been chosen as ASU's new provost and executive vice president. She succeeds Milt Glick, who is leaving ASU to become president of the University of Nevada, Reno, and will assume her new post in August.

Betty Capaldi has the academic standing, creative energy and analytically based administrative experience to take on the complex task of being university provost of ASU. I am looking forward to having her experience and leadership as part of the senior management team. Additional members of the team include Carol Campbell, executive vice president and chief financial officer; Richard Stanley, senior vice president and university planner; Christine Wilkinson, senior vice president, secretary of the university and president of the ASU Alumni Association; Ira Jackson, president of the ASU Foundation; and James O'Brien, chief of staff, Office of the President.

I would like to thank Sander van der Leeuw and the search committee for their excellent work in selecting Betty Capaldi, as well as the other two outstanding finalists. The position of executive vice president and provost is vitally important to the success of this institution, and I look forward to working with Betty as we advance the university.
