ASU student sexually assaulted off campus

A 19-year-old ASU student was sexually assaulted at her residence near Scottsdale and Curry roads Tuesday morning, Tempe police reported.

The victim was asleep in her off-campus apartment on the 600 block of East Mesquite Circle when a man allegedly entered the apartment through the front door, police reported.

The woman was alone in her bed at 5 a.m. when the man assaulted her for approximately 20 minutes, police reported. The woman awakened with the man on top of her.

There was no forced entry into the apartment, police reported. Police believe the front door was left unlocked.

The man is described as a white male with a medium build, light colored eyes and some type of facial hair. Only one suspect was seen and there was no weapon involved, police reported.
