In the last few weeks, I have had guys touch my back and my legs despite my obvious disinterest and unavailability. I have heard jokes along the lines of “Consent?! Pfffft!” to express the absurdity of such a vital concept. I have seen guys distraught over being "just friends" with girls because they are desperate for something more.

The transition from high school to college is a tricky one. There are many factors at play, including new living quarters, classes and people. For many new students, this transition takes away their control, which is a problem for those who pride themselves on their perfectionist tendencies.

Perhaps it’s something more abstract, like equality — no sexist jokes will be told on your watch. Or, honesty — you seriously just wish that Pinocchio could get himself together.

Any resourceful college student is capable of getting their hands on drugs and alcohol, whether legal or not, so the accessibility of illegal substances is not a concern. It is what these substances are used for that ought to be examined, especially in the academic world.
