Proposed in 2001, the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act was a piece of bipartisan legislation that did not pass, though it would have granted undocumented immigrants temporary residency and later, permanent residency. College students that would have benefited from this are referred to as DREAMers.

With every passing year, ASU makes improvements that positively affects the student body. In 2015, we explored each of these issues and witnessed numerous commendable feats occur on campus. From a Special Victims Unit becoming part of ASU Police Department, to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) students receiving in-state tuition, ASU has continued to listen to our voices and adhere to our needs.

DREAMers attend first school year paying in-state tuition, struggle with lack of financial aid

A May ruling by the Arizona Board of Regents granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients the ability to pay in-state tuition. Despite this ruling, many DREAMers still continue to struggle financially due to the lack of federal aid available to undocumented students.
