ASU debuts new level in text alert system

Arizona State University has added a new text messaging service that will inform students, faculty and staff about incidents such as a fire, power outage, or closure of a building on campus.

The new system is called ASU Advisory and works in the same way that the ASU alert system does.

The ASU Advisory system is a tier below the ASU Alert system, which sends messages when major incidents that affect life or safety occur on campus.

ASU Advisory messages will be sent in situations such as a small fire, laboratory accident, or traffic enforcement around campus.

Students, faculty and staff who receive ASU Alert messages will still need to sign up for ASU Advisory messages.

Those who wish to sign up for the new messaging service can sign up at asu.edu/alert or on the ASU Alert icon at asu.edu.
