Police investigating 47 threatening text messages woman received from ex-boyfriend

ASU Police reported the following incident Tuesday:

  • Police are investigating cell phone threats to an 18-year-old Tempe woman that occurred on Sept. 26, according to a police report.

The woman told police she had received many threatening text messages and voicemails from her ex-boyfriend, police reported.

The couple broke up over Labor Day weekend, when the Portage, Ind., man came to visit her at ASU, according to the report.

The man had only visited the woman for approximately three hours, police reported.

After she broke up with him, the man sent the woman 47 text messages and left five voicemails, according to the report.

The man said in one of the voicemails that he was going to come to ASU near the end of September to find the woman, police reported.

The woman told police she was considering leaving town during those days because she feared he would harm her, according to the report.

Police were unable to contact the man, but sent out an alert to be on the lookout for this man, police reported.
