ASU Police reported the following incident Monday:
A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday on the 1100 block of South Rural Road on suspicion of criminal trespassing, possession of fictitious identification and false reporting to law enforcement, according to a police report.
Police saw the man walking through bike racks around campus, sometimes stopping to look at locked bikes, police reported.
Police stopped the man near the bike racks between Barrett, the Honors College, and the Hassayampa dormitories, according to the report.
The man told police he only had a debit card to identify himself with and said he was walking to the light rail from the bus stop, police reported.
A records check on the assumed name of the man revealed that ASU and Scottsdale Police had active warrants out for him, as well as a suspended license, according to the report.
The man told police his real name, after using his father’s name initially because he knew he was not allowed on University property, police reported.
Police found wire cutters, miscellaneous tools and bike parts, as well as a bike seat inside the man's backpack, according to the report.
The man said he had the parts and tools in his bag because he runs a bike shop out of his house, police reported.
The man was transported to Fourth Avenue Jail where he was booked, according to the report.
