Boos & Bravos: March 20

Boo to the plea bargain offered to Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair. Sinclair faced numerous charges, including sexual assault and making death threats to a woman and her family, but will instead plead guilty to mistreating the woman and causing her emotional distress. The plea bargain marks the end of a case that could have been a landmark decision for sex crimes in the U.S. military.

Bravo to Boston Mayor Marty Walsh for his decision not to march at the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade after organizers refused to allow members of MassEquality, a group of LGBT activists, to march openly. Walsh, however, was not alone in his boycott as Sam Adams and Heineken, two of the biggest beer companies in the U.S., withdrew their sponsorships for the Boston and New York City parades.
