Tempe Police: Nude man damages property

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 21-year-old Tempe man was arrested April 22 on the 1000 block of East Vista Del Cerro Drive on suspicion of being a fugitive of justice, indecent exposure and criminal damage, according to a police report.

A witness told police her peace was disturbed and that she was offended after she saw the man run around an apartment complex fully nude, police said.

The man also violently pulled on the apartment complex’s pool gate, causing one of the metal bars to break off, the report said.

The damage is estimated at $200, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.

  • A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested April 24 on the 2000 block of North Scottsdale Road on suspicion of drug paraphernalia possession and use, driving with a suspended license, unlawful flight from a law officer, reckless driving and resisting order in control of a vehicle, according to a police report.

Police contacted the man, who was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer, because a parked officer could hear the loud music and bass of the car as it was stopped at a traffic light, police said.

Police said the music violated a Tempe City code because the music could be heard more than 50 feet away, police reported.

The officer drove behind the car and saw that the registration expired in March, the report said.

The red and blue lights flashed, and instead of pulling to the right, the man stopped in the first lane of the intersection, police said.

The arresting officer spoke through an intercom and told the man to pull over to the right, but the man continued driving northbound down Scottsdale Road, police reported.

The officer activated his siren and followed the driver, who then crossed multiple lanes without signaling, the report said.

The man turned into a private driveway and accelerated to about 40 to 50 mph through a crowded parking lot, where he drove over a raised landscape island, police said.

He parked his car at the Hospitality Suites Resort in Scottsdale and fled on foot, but the officer who was chasing him lost sight of him, the report said.

When inspecting the car, the officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle’s open windows and found a bong in the back seat, police reported.

Several receipts were found in the car with the man’s name on them that police used to find the man’s address and run a background check, the report said.

A background check revealed he had warrants for marijuana charges in Kansas, police said.

When police arrived at the man’s residence, he fled again by jumping off of the second floor balcony, the report said.

After a brief chase, law officers took the man into custody and he was later transported to Tempe City Jail, booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.
