Tempe Police: Man bites EMT at hospital

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A Phoenix man was arrested Nov. 22 on the block of 1500 South Mill Avenue on suspicion of aggravated assault on an EMT and prescription drug possession, according to a police report.

An ambulance had been called to help the man, who was in an altered mental state, and transport him to Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, police reported.

At the hospital, one of the EMTs was helping hospital staff move the man to a hospital bed when the man bit the EMT on his forearm, according to the report.

The man later told officers that he didn’t remember biting the EMT at all, but that he did have an Adderall pill in his pocket, police reported.

The man was later transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held to see a judge, according to the report.

A Mesa man was arrested Nov. 22 on the 400 block of South Mill Avenue on suspicion of having two outstanding warrants and aggravated assault on a fireman, according to a police report.

Firemen riding in a ladder truck noticed a man slumped over in front of a Mill Avenue restaurant, police reported.

The man was unresponsive, and the firemen attempted to wake the man up, according to the report.

The man did wake up, but at that point he began spitting on the firemen, who then had to restrain him, police reported.

The man told police officers that were called to the scene that he didn’t mean to spit, according to the report.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked, police reported.
