Tempe Police: Man's lies about name foiled by his name tattooed on his back


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • A 37-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Feb. 9 at the intersection of East Tempe Drive and North Harold Street on suspicion of providing false identification, according to the police report.Officers contacted the man after someone called them about an unwanted guest, officers reported. When police approached the man, he provided a false name, according to the report.

    Police were able to properly identify the man due to a tattoo of his last name across his back, officers reported.

    When officers conducted a records check on the man,they found he had two outstanding warrants in various Arizona cities, according to the report.

    Officers searched the man and found marijuana, heroin and drug paraphernalia, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and held pending release, according to the report.

  • A 25-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested Feb. 8 at the 300 block of West Lakeview Drive on suspicion of trespassing, according to the police report.Officers contacted while the woman was walking on the light rail bridge after being alerted by light rail security, officers reported. Security was alerted when the woman triggered a sensor on the bridge, according to the report.

    When questioned by police, the woman said she ignored the numerous signs while walking back to South Mill Avenue on the light rail bridge, officers reported.

    The woman was transported to Tempe City Jail, where she was booked and held to see a judge, according to the police report.
