Tempe Police reported the following incident Monday:

A 48-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested July 9 on the 1800 block of North Scottsdale Road on suspicion of two counts of disorderly conduct, according to a police report.

Goodwill staff contacted police regarding belligerent behavior that included allegations of spitting at an employee, police reported.

The man had fled from the store on his bicycle before officials arrived and began a search for the man down the road, according to the report.

Upon contact, the man agreed to an interview and admitted he had used obscenities in the Goodwill store and called one of the employees “fat,” police reported.

The man said he knew he didn't handle the situation well and that he was disappointed in himself,  according to the report.

When officials asked the man whether he had any illegal items on his person, he stated he had some “potpourri” in his backpack, which an officer later identified as marijuana, police reported.

During a search of the man’s belongings, police also discovered a clear plastic tube containing three hand-rolled cigarette stubs, according to the report.

The man then admitted that what he had in his back was actually a drug known as spice, which he had purchased from a Quick Mart, police reported.

Following the search, the man said he normally smoked the substance, according to the report.

The man was booked into Tempe City Jail and held to see a judge, police reported.
