The Sun Devils defeated the Rebels 6-0.

In its first game of two on the road in the state of Oklahoma, No. 18 ASU soccer lost 3-2 to Oklahoma State in a game that featured a first half lightning delay.

The Sun Devils (4-2-0) allowed a goal in the second minute of the match as Oklahoma State senior defender Delaney Kiely scored off of a corner kick to put the Cowgirls (4-4-0) out in front by a score of 1-0.

Kiely's goal came after a loose ball fell to her feet and she scooted it past redshirt senior goalkeeper Chandler Morris with ease.

After a scoreless stretch of nearly 20 minutes between the two teams, senior forward Cali Farquharson came to the rescue in the 21st minute and scored the 39th goal of her career to tie the game 1-1.

Farquharson's strike came as a blocked shot by her teammate, sophomore forward Madison Stark, landed within the range of her foot and she casually sent it home.

A lightning delay came less than 15 minutes later as fans and players cleared the field for 30 minutes before play resumed.

After the delay, the Sun Devils came out firing to retake the lead. Redshirt junior midfielder Lucy Lara delivered a phenomenal free kick from 20 yards out that landed in the back of the net, putting ASU on top 2-1 in the 37th minute.

Thirteen minutes into the second half, Oklahoma State scored once again thanks to a headed effort by senior forward Madison Mercado. The goal by Mercado tied the game 2-2 in the 58th minute.

Just over 10 minutes later, the Cowgirls took a 3-2 lead in the 69th minute on a skillful score from sophomore Anna Beffer.

Beffer's goal came off of a cross after the Sun Devil defense committed a number of marking errors on the back line.

Despite a valiant effort down the stretch, ASU just couldn't find the equalizer in the final minutes of the match, suffering their second loss this season while allowing a season high three goals.

The Sun Devils' next match will be against The University of Oklahoma on Sunday, September 20 in Norman, Oklahoma.
