Tempe Police reported the following incident Wednesday:

A 55-year-old Tempe man was arrested Feb. 8 in the 1700 block of East Apache Boulevard on suspicion of possessing narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia possession, according to a police report.

An officer stopped a Honda CR-V after the driver made an improper left turn at the Pride Gas Station, police reported.

Following the stop, the man said he owned the car and showed his driver's license for further identification, according to the report.

The man also told police he had a medical marijuana card after they asked whether he had anything illegal inside the vehicle, police reported.

During a search of the car, an officer found a baggie of cocaine as well as multiple glass pipes inside a white trash bag, according to the report.

Two of the pipes appeared to be used for smoking marijuana, but another one resembled a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine, police reported.

The man said he did not know the baggie of cocaine was in his car, adding that he could have “hit it” so that he wouldn’t get in trouble for having it, police reported.

He admitted to using marijuana on a regular basis and using meth every once in a while, though he also said he had not used cocaine or crack in a long time, according to the report.

When the officer presented the pipe to the man, he said he had let his “baby mama” use his car the other day, police reported.

The man was transported to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked and released pending charges, according to the report.
