After falling 3-2 to No. 4 Oregon State in Friday night's series opener, a six-run first inning buried ASU baseball on Saturday and led to a 12-2 loss.

The bottom of the first started when sophomore Eli Lingos gave up a leadoff walk, a single and a double for the game's first run. Then, two errors led to even more damage.

Lingos threw six scoreless innings against UC Davis in his last start. But on Saturday, he failed to record a single out and was tagged for six runs, only two earned.

In total, ASU (13-5) committed three errors — an area that stood out in the Long Beach State series, which preceded the Sun Devils' eight-game winning streak that was snapped Friday.

The inning proved to be more than enough run support for Oregon State (14-2) right-hander Jake Thompson, who stymied the Sun Devils by giving up just five hits in seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts on 94 pitches.

Oregon State's Nick Madrigal went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Additionally, KJ Harrison had a hit and scored three runs himself to lead the Beavers.

The Sun Devils scored their only two runs of the game on RBI singles from catcher Zach Cerbo and sophomore second baseman Andrew Snow in the top of the ninth, but it was too little too late.

Sophomore Ryan Hingst gave up one earned run in four innings of relief for ASU, and freshman Fitz Stadler gave up two earned runs in three innings on the mound.

The Sun Devils were 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

ASU will look to avoid getting swept in Sunday afternoon's series finale in Corvallis, Oregon, as sophomore lefty Reagan Todd will take the mound looking to lead the team to its first Pac-12 win of the year.
