As the temperature begins to rise in Tempe for the summer season, so does the general anxiety of nearly every student who realizes: Finals are only one week away.

However, before the fear of approaching all-nighters and coffee overdoses sets in, there is still time to find that perfect study area. After all, you’re going to spend several hours a day sitting in the same seat.

Below are five go-to spots for focusing on schoolwork and forgetting about your early onset of graying hair, complete with locations:

Royal Coffee Bar

Royal is a small coffee shop that serves a sizable cold brew that can give most students the kick they seek while attempting to pull through 36 hours without sleep.

Location: Fifth Street & College

Hours: Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seating: Indoor and outdoor

Serves: Coffee and pastries

Website: royalcoffeebar.com

Hayden Library Third Floor

Hayden Library has several of its own gems for students seeking a change of pace. Although most students may simply head to the first floor’s lounge area, others may opt for the third floor, where several colorful books offer a cozy space for hammering out that final essay.

Location: 300 E. Orange Mall

Hours: 24 hours

Seating: Four floors and an outdoor patio

Serves: Indoor cafe serves coffee, tea, pastries, etc.

Infusion Coffee & Tea

Infusion is a lesser-known coffee and tea shop that offers dozens of options for students who need caffeine, but get tired of drinking black coffee several times a day.

Location: 300 E. Orange Mall

Hours: Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

             Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seating: Indoor and outdoor

Serves: Coffee and tea

Website: infusioncoffeetea.com

Outdoor Grassy Areas

While focusing on schoolwork, one may forget to sit outside and literally smell the roses. Luckily, ASU’s main campus hosts several grassy areas where students can settle in and enjoy some fresh air while they read and write. Plus, it’s free!

Location: Anywhere on campus

Hours: 24 hours (though only 12 hours if you prefer sunlight)

Seating: Everywhere

Design North Library

Feeling cooped up in the deep recesses of Hayden? Check out the Design Library, located on the first floor of the Design North building. Although it isn’t 24 hours, the library is quiet and not packed with students radiating stress. It’s a little more colorful, and a tad less sterile than Hayden.

Location: 810 S. Forest Mall CDN 153

Hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

             Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Seating: Indoor

Website: lib.asu.edu/design

Cartel Coffee Lab

Every finals week, Cartel becomes packed with students desperately attempting to finish class projects and reread their textbooks front-to-back. However, the popular coffee shop almost always has an extra seat for someone in need of free wifi and an herbal iced tea.

Location: 225 W. University Dr.

Hours: Every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Seating: Indoor

Serves: Coffee, tea and pastries

Website: cartelcoffeelab.com
