ASU baseball failed to complete its comeback against Arizona Saturday evening, losing 4-2 in the second game of a three game series between the Sun Devils and the Wildcats.

Both teams began the game slowly, earning only two hits in the first four innings. It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth inning that more runs began to pile up for the teams.

After two walks, UA senior Cody Ramer got filed out after ASU caught a fly ball, though he brought UA freshman Cesar Salazar home in the meantime. In a play soon after that, UA junior Louis Boyd also scored a run following a hit by UA senior Zach Gibbons.

Yet after only one hit by the Sun Devils, the Wildcats put forth two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, eventually placing the Sun Devils in a deep hole.

The Sun Devils put forth a fighting effort in the eighth and ninth inning, placing five hits and two runs in those innings — including a home run by ASU junior Sebastian Zawada.

However, this attempt wasn't enough to take the lead from the Wildcats.

ASU did have plenty of chances in later innings to score, but wasn't able to capitalize upon moments in which they had multiple runners on bases.

The the final and series-deciding game will take place Sunday in Tuscon.
