ASU cross country men and women place 9th in Pac-12 Championships

ASU cross country competed in the Pac-12 Championships Friday in Springfield, Oregon. 

The men first competed in an 8K race and finished with a score of 282 points, in 9th place earning them a last place finish. 

The top finisher for the Sun Devil men was redshirt senior John Reniewicki, who came in with a time of 25:30.2 with a 66th place finish. 

The next top three finishers were; freshman Erik Gonzalez coming in at 25:54.5 with a 72nd place finish, and redshirt junior J.P. Nelson coming in at 26:29.9 with a 76th place finish. 

The final finishes for the men were Alexander Stevens – 26:33.6 in 77th place, Michael Renner – 26:40.4 in 78th, Jackson Lewis – 26:45.2 in 79th place, and Nick Dale – 27:51.1 in 81st place. 

The women took the course next in a 6K race and finished with a score of 232 points, and also got 9th place, but were not in last place.

The top finisher for the ASU women was redshirt senior Chelsey Albertson, who clocked in with a time of 19:23.6 and had a 14th place finish. 

The second finisher for the women was sophomore Alexis Nichols, who came in with a time of 20:23.4 and a 53rd place finish. The third finisher for the women was junior Samantha Ortega with a time of 20:34.1 earning her a 61st place finish. 

Other finishes for the women were; Courtney Lewis – 20:35.3 in 62nd place, Daan Haven – 20:43.3 in 67th place, Billie Jo Dytrt – 20:54.8 in 75th place, and Anna Pruter – 21:07.7 in 85th place. 

Albertson earned the all-conference honor after her finish for the Sun Devils. This was the first time since 2014 this title has been awarded to a Sun Devil cross country athlete, when the award went to Shelby Houlihan.



The Stanford men and the Colorado women came away with the PAC-12 Championship. 

The Sun Devils compete next in the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 10 in Seattle.
