Hottest of the bad.
The children at the orphanage became the subject of a photographic collection ASU alumnus David Stone developed in April. Stone spent three weeks in Hue capturing the essence of the city and the orphanage. By taking the photos, Stone hopes more attention will be drawn to the orphanage and to Vietnam.
A young girl looks on from a swing at the Orphanage of Hue in Vietnam. The orphanage is said to hold between 75 and 100 children at any given time, and serves as a safe haven for children with no place to go.
A man fishes in the water. One of Stone's favorite memories from the trip is when he visited a beach in Phantiet, Vietnam, where he found a wooden box with hand-carved frogs on it. Stone said finding the shell "was really a spiritual time for me ... a time to self-reflect."
A girl, wearing the orphanage's uniform and riding a bike through town, looks back at some of her friends.
Children at the orphanage all wear a standard-issue uniform of white shirts and navy trousers or skirts. They sleep in wooden bunk beds and eat meals of beef, chicken, noodles, lettuce and rice.
