As finals week fast approaches, it becomes increasingly easier to assume the world is against you. We are all under the impression that college is characterized by late, grueling nights in the library and mental breakdowns — our attitude follows suit.

Volunteer work is an activity few of us make the time to complete. We all have other responsibilities that benefit us directly. When we do complete volunteer work, as college students, it's for the sake of our resumes in our career field of choice.

I associate the holiday season with family time, relaxation and good eats. It is a joyous occasion that I look forward to every year. Many young college students have the same thought process; the holiday season offers an opportunity to relax and recuperate from the trials of college.

People are quick to discount the importance of joy, laughter and happiness, which seems silly. If you are physically healthy, you are considered "fine" in society’s eyes.

I, like most, look forward to my daily coffee fix. I have begun to make the assumption that I can not get any work done in a day without it and have upped my daily intake accordingly.

With a plethora of other responsibilities and a limited budget, college students often fail to live a healthy lifestyle. However, some sacrifices are necessary, and college students ought to make them in order to ensure their success in college and beyond.

Movies, social media and television show idealized romantic relationships depicting people as though they are merely one part of a whole. Although romantic relationships are emotionally beneficial to some, college is not the ideal time to actively seek them, especially because they are no longer valued.

College students don’t have the time to take care of themselves, let alone another animal. With academics, extracurricular activities, sports and whatnot, tending to an animal doesn’t seem to be a feasible option for students, especially for those adjusting to college life for the first time.

Conflict is a natural product of any election; clashing opinions and the bias of the media leave voters feeling panicked and overwhelmed. This year’s election, in particular, has stirred up a great deal of controversy, which is due in part to the wide divide between Trump supporters and Clinton supporters.

ASU is often pegged as an excellent school for engineering or business, and the Ira Fulton Schools of Engineering and the W. P. Carey School of Business have lived up to these standards. Still, ASU’s pre-medical program shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

Search “how to lose weight” in Google and you will see many variations of “how to lose weight fast” or “how to lose weight in a day.” Losing weight quickly has led to the emergence of many unreasonable fad diets, making weight loss a fad in and of itself.

Clothing, as a direct representation of our character, is responsible for shaping our expressions of creativity as well as our social interactions. It only makes sense that individuals dress themselves to fit their present circumstances. For example, most students don’t wear their pajamas to class although there are a select few who do.

Many young women yearn for the long, slender legs of the supermodels they see on the runway. Similarly, many young men aspire to look like the toned, lean models walking the same runway.
