A former ASU student was arrested Nov. 19 on suspicion of forcing a 15-year-old girl he met over the Internet into a sexual act, Peoria police said.
Brian Marx, 19, of Scottsdale, faces charges of sex abuse, attempted sexual conduct with a minor and sexual conduct with a minor. He attended ASU in fall 2000.
Peoria police have been investigating the case since July and gathered enough evidence to arrest Marx last week.
Peoria police Sgt. Clark Collier said Marx contacted the Peoria girl over the Internet on July 16 and persuaded her to meet him in person.
Marx drove to the girl's home in Peoria that same day, Collier said.
Marx then talked her into getting into his car, where he forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Collier added that Marx exposed himself to her and unbuttoned her shorts before she could flee from his car.
"We don't know if he used coercion, or something of a greater extent," Collier said.
Marx was booked into Madison Street Jail in Phoenix on Nov. 19 and was released Tuesday, Collier said.
Police were notified of the incident after the girl told her parents, who later called Peoria police.
Collier said police don't know if Marx has a criminal record and he is still under investigation.
Police fear there may be more victims who have not come forward.
"There is probably a pretty good chance that this was not his first attempt," Collier said. "There is a likely possibility of other victims."
Marx was advised by his lawyers not to comment on the case.
