The location of the new Arizona Cardinals stadium has left Maricopa County residents divided, according to a KAET telephone poll released Wednesday.

Twenty-two percent of the 291 polled said they would rather have the stadium built in the West Valley.

Twenty-one percent said a new stadium should not be built at all and the Cardinals should continue to play in Sun Devil Stadium.

The poll, which was conducted Nov. 15-18, also shows that 12 percent of voters opted for the Tempe site near Sky Harbor Airport and 9 percent said they preferred the site along Loop 101 between Tempe and Mesa.

Other voters, 18 percent, said they had no preference on where the stadium was built.

The poll's sampling error is 5.6 percent.
