A few months ago, when we were planning the articles for the semester, we looked in our crystal ball and saw the future: an article about modern-day fortunetellers.
Well, that future has arrived in good ol' present day. And to get in the mood, SPM design editor Teresa Aguilera gave me a Tarot card reading to spell out the psychic mysteries of my private universe. Here's what I found out:
The Knight of Pentacles represents my conscious desires, or what I think I need. This means that I think a time is coming when I'll need to be responsible or take charge of a situation. This card also represents a dedicated worker or a potential for success. Or something like that.
In the future, I'll have the ability to make my dreams a reality, and I can tap into my personal power by knowing where I am going.
The Queen of Staffs represents how I see myself. This queen is really stubborn but also really sexy and charismatic. She's independent and won't let anyone stop her from doing what she wants to do.
Other people, however, see me as pure, innocent and unconventional — someone who chooses to ignore traditional ways of doing things.
Now Teresa is no professional (she certainly didn't graduate from the Astrological Institute of Scottsdale. See the story on page 12), but I guess I was expecting something a little more certain. Is it me, or is that reading a little, I don't know, general?
Sure, I'm graduating in a month and a half, so there is a time coming up when I'll be looking for a little more responsibility. And yes, I am really, really stubborn — many people can vouch for that. And I can't tell you how often people tell me how charismatic and sexy I am.
Which brings me to my point (finally). The psychic realm leaves a lot to interpretation or question — some people would even call so-called psychic powers a hoax. But there's still something about it all that makes people turn to psychics for guidance, advice and information. There's something to this whole psychic thing that resonates with people, that makes you want to believe in it, even though logically it seems impossible.
That's what we've tried to explore in this issue. On pages 10 and 11, we take an in-depth look at two modern-day psychics. Though they might not look like the stereotypical old woman with a scarf on her head, these two women claim to be able to see things that others cannot.
We also talked with two people who claim to receive messages from beings from other planets, and who make predictions based on those messages (see page 15).
Whether you believe in that sort of thing or not, check out these stories to learn more about psychics and their supposed powers. Unless you yourself are psychic. In which case, you probably already know what we're going to say.
