Gimme a break! Only the Canadians could be this uptight.
In Toronto, there is a Budweiser commercial airing that depicts women slapping their men for checking out other women in their presence. A consumer group in Toronto claims to have received a "hand full" of complaints about the ad and has asked that it be removed.
The 30-second commercial, aired in Ontario and New Brunswick, Canada, promotes a giveaway of sunglasses in the cases of beer. The implication is that the men would not have been caught had they been wearing sunglasses.
The guilty offence? Consumers claim that the sight of women slapping men is too violent.
"This was meant to be humorous. Some people didn't see it that way," Labbatt Brewing Co. Ltd. spokesman Nigel Miller told the Associated Press Friday. "We take their concerns very seriously."
Advertising Standards Canada, the industry body that handles consumer complaints about ads, also expressed concerns to Labatt, he said.
Hence, Budweiser will run a shorter version of the commercial that removes all women slapping men. Until then, it intends to run the original spot only after 11 p.m. to reduce the chances that children will see it.
Why? Are guys really that weak? Can they not take a knock for behavior deserving such action?
One of the concerns was that children might see the violence portrayed in the commercial, and that could be bad. I guess it is important for little girls to learn early on that it doesn't matter what men do to them, that they should be OK with it and do nothing in response.
Further, little boys need to be taught early on the ways of infidelity. The sooner they realize they can have a girlfriend or wife and also pursue other women at the same time, the sooner they understand what it means to be a man.
Men deserve a little slap sometimes, and they are built to take it. This is the problem with the never-ending banner of equality. Not everything and everyone can be treated equally. To do so is a blatant disregard for certain inherent physiological reasons.
The equality police say that if it isn't right to hit a woman, then it isn't right to hit a man. Wrong. Women are smart and can be taught by means of mental persuasion. Men too are smart; however, once in a while they require a little extra lesson to make the knowledge set in. This is not primitive, it is genetics.
This should not be a green light to begin beating up men. They can take it, but only so much, and like everything, in moderation.
Women would be smart to give to her male significant other a slap upside the head when she witnesses a mental act of infidelity. There are two reasons for this.
One, the guy will have to deal with the immediate pain from the smack, thus negating any further possibility to ponder how green that other grass is.
Secondly, and more importantly, it shows the guy that the girl cares. Sometimes guys don't get it when the lady does something nice to say she cares. A smack upside the noggin says, "Hey, she loves me, and she's not worth leaving."
Although, it might just be that the lady is a jealous psycho.
