The Tempe man who housed one of several Ecstasy labs operated by a former ASU student and a plant biology professor was sentenced to probation Monday.
Joseph Dudley Lewis, 41, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined $10,000 in Maricopa County Superior Court after he pleaded guilty to the charges of facilitation to manufacture a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug.
Lewis' lawyer, David Smith, was pleased with the court's decision.
"We are very satisfied. We don't like the fine, but that was mandatory," Smith said.
According to Arizona Department of Public Safety reports, Lewis was "good friends" with Clayton Atom Prepsky, 30, an ASU lab worker who is serving 18 months of probation for his involvement in the drug ring.
Prepsky rented a room in Lewis' Tempe home, where he reportedly manufactured Ecstasy.
Prepsky and Ralph Backhaus, a plant biology professor at ASU, allegedly sold the drugs.
Backhaus' sentencing has been scheduled for April 3.
