I know the Major League Baseball season is not even a week old, but all of those who have been saying the Diamondbacks will cruise to their third-consecutive National League West championship better take a careful look at the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers came into Bank One Ballpark and put a quick halt to the D-Backs opening series. With the strong starting rotation of Hideo Nomo, Odalis Perez, Kevin Brown, Kazuhisa Ishii and Andy Ashby, along with the re-emergence of Darren Dreifort, the Dodgers have the potential to surprise everybody with what could be the best pitching staff in baseball.

They also proved they can hit, with Paul Lo Duca, Dave Roberts and Shawn Green unloading on D-Backs pitching, Arizona better wake up quick because it could be them chasing the Dodgers come September.
