Murphy's Law: A new begınnıng

as50324q

So here's the thing: This is my last column. It's sad, I know, but it's the truth. I've decided to be cheesy for this last column and say my last goodbyes, since I'm graduating in a few days and won't be back in January.

It's sort of weird to write that I'm not coming back. I'm sure many others out there are in a similar situation. Graduating, moving on, leading new lives, getting new jobs. We've all had the things that we've done during college that we'll probably never do again, and in a way it's exciting, but it's also sad. I've been working in this basement for the past two years, and what's sick is that I can't imagine myself anywhere else. I remember the days before The State Press, but I can't recall what I did with all my free time.

I've met some cool people over the past couple years, and I've had the privilege to work with an amazing staff, many who will be coming back in the spring. Keep your eyes on them and keep them on their toes so that hopefully this publication will improve with each semester.

I've learned a lot from these people, and I will take this knowledge with me wherever I go. I know, because of my experiences here, that if I really want something, I can make it happen. Dreams can become reality if you work toward them.

And my dream of being in journalism started here in this dank basement. I was a bumbling sophomore without a plan or any experience who wandered in here one day, basically begging for a job. For some reason the editors who were here at the time believed I could do it and hired me. Because of this, I encourage anyone interested in journalism to take a chance and apply for the magazine or the newspaper, because, I guarantee, it will be the best education you will receive and a great foot in the door. I have learned more here than I have in any class I've taken.

So I'd just like to thank everyone who I've worked with and everyone who reads SPM for everything they've given me over the past couple years. It's been worth more than I can say.

And good luck to the remaining staff members. I know they won't let the SPM readers down, and hopefully they'll gain a few more.
