BRAVO to the new Lattie F. Coor Mediated Classroom Building. Though some have called it "a disaster," we think it's pretty. Just stay away from it at high noon, unless you want to feel like an ant under a magnifying glass...
BOO to car break-ins. ASU police say these aren't rare on campus. It's creepy to think people go around peering in our car windows while we're in class. Oh, and if anyone has bought the Opinion Editor's stereo on the black market, can you please return it to him?
BRAVO to Gov. Janet Napolitano for trying to get ASU $23.4 million in a budget increase and...
BOO to the Legislature for recommending that ASU get no funding increase. We get more students every semester, it's simple math that we need more money to educate them. We hope the governor and Legislature can reconcile their budgets in favor of our education.
BOO to computer viruses. We're sick of them. We're sick of our computers getting sick from them. And we're sick of the sick people who program these things.
BRAVO to ASU women's basketball coach Charli Turner Thorne. Even giving birth can't keep her from the court. Her passion and motivation have helped the team become one to watch.
BOO to construction on College Avenue. Pedestrians are being sent through a funhouse as traffic piles up on University. C'mon, ASU has had so much construction over the past several years, you'd think that they'd know how to make things easy by now.
BOO to people who use cell phones in movie theaters. And to people who find it necessary to talk through the whole film. Whether you are breathlessly predicting what the characters will do next or translating the entire film for your Russian friend, we have two words: shut up!
BRAVO to Zach Miller, a senior tight end from Phoenix Desert Vista High School who announced that he has committed to playing football for ASU next year. Zach joins his brother Brent on the team. He caught 46 passes for 790 yards at his high school last season, and experts are calling him the best high school tight end in the nation.
BRAVO to ASU East Dean of the College of Technology Albert McHenry. He was recently named the "Mesa Man of the Year," for his work in the community.
BOO to late basketball games on a school night. College basketball games just shouldn't start at 8:30 p.m., no matter what the television networks want. We students have homework, and we have deadlines, not to mention it really throws off the timing for after-work beers at Four Peaks.
