Police Beat: Biker on crack


Tempe police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A 47-year-old Tempe man was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia near the 2000 block of East University drive. He was stopped for riding his bike after dark without a headlamp and consented to a search. Police discovered a crack pipe that he admitted to using earlier.

A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested on a charge of theft of services near the 600 block of South Mill Avenue after he ordered two drinks at Fat Tuesday and fled without paying. The drinks totaled $8.

A 39-year-old Tempe man was arrested on a charge of theft/shoplifting near the 1700 block of South Jen Tilly Lane after concealing two bottles of Alize Cognac and leaving the store without paying. A short foot pursuit ensued before the man was arrested. The liquor was valued at $32.14.

ASU police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

A female student reported a break-in to her car while it was parked at Parking Structure 1. A Panasonic compact disc player worth $400 was stolen.

A vehicle break-in was reported near the 1000 block of South Forest Avenue. Twenty-four empty money bags were reported stolen from a company car. The bags were worth $120.
