Review: 'Seinfeld' co-creator strikes gold with 'Enthusiasm'

For those of you who aren't lucky enough to get HBO, including all of those in the dorms and some of you at home, I can only hope to capture the brilliance of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in this review. The show is one of the funniest comedies to ever grace a television screen.

Larry David, co-creator of NBC's famous sitcom Seinfeld, created this show about his life in Los Angeles. The fourth season of CYE started Jan. 4 after a yearlong hiatus. David is rich beyond belief, thanks to all of the reruns of Seinfeld in syndication. He has a great house, and a beautiful, loving wife. So, naturally, he's incredibly unhappy.

Last night's episode, "The Weatherman," focuses on Larry's teeth, golf game and back. David is peeved that his dentist ruins his new sweater, his hygienist is spreading rumors about his plaque, a local weatherman seems to be incorrectly forecasting the weather to improve his golf game and that his toilet seat keeps being left up.

Like "Seinfeld," CYE is a show about nothing and about everything. It may be mundane, but David mines so much humor out of the most mundane and unimportant things in life. His greatest talent is picking apart the minutiae of daily routines.

The main storyline consists of Larry getting a lead role in Mel Brooks' "The Producers." This angle wasn't touched in the latest episode, but the show still managed to be funny. Some characters in the show always overreact. Larry and his manager's evil wife come to mind immediately, but that only makes the show more outrageously hilarious.

If you have HBO, you should already be watching this. If you don't get that channel, find a friend who does have it and ask them for a favor.
