See It: Imagine all the people

Nearly 40 years after Beatlemania started in the United States, Paul Jillson, owner of Pacific Edge Gallery in California, will bring his "Art of John Lennon" exhibit to the Valley.

When John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison appeared on the 'Ed Sullivan Show' on Feb. 9, 1964, they took the nation by storm. Now, talent and art converge in a visual exhibition featuring Lennon's drawings and handwritten lyrics.

The Art of John Lennon at the Borgata of Scottsdale, 6166 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. 800.477.5630. www.lennonart.com.

The exhibit is free to the public and will be held at the Borgata of Scottsdale on Feb. 13 to 15. Touring since 1990, Pacific Edge is one of the two galleries in the United States that is authorized to produce a touring tribute of Lennon's artwork. The gallery works in conjunction with Yoko Ono, Lennon's widow, and the John Lennon estate.

"This is an opportunity to incorporate artwork and music with an edge," Jillson says. Being an ex-musician himself, Jillson has found his Lennon tour

to be very successful, bringing large turnouts, especially in the Phoenix area.

The exhibit will feature more than 100 serigraphs, signed lithographs, original drawings and song lyrics from Lennon himself.

Nearly 14,000 have experienced this traveling exhibit and you can too. Celebrate the 40th anniversary of a pop music sensation with Lennon's art and words.
